The mission

To cultivate a space in Noto Peninsula where creativity, culture, and community intersect—blurring boundaries between disciplines and traditions, and fostering meaningful exchange between local and global voices.

At T‑Wabisato, creativity isn’t confined. It’s where Japan, Ghana and Norway (or the rest of the world) fuse into one rhythm — a living lab for cultural experimentation, collaboration and renewal.

We offer a sanctuary for recalibration — where artistry, craft, and culinary heritage meet in dialogue. Rooted in Noto, it nurtures encounters that dissolve borders and ignite cultural resonance.

In short T‑Wabisato brings together artists, chefs, and thinkers to create, collaborate, and connect across cultures. It’s a space for making, sharing, and shaping new traditions from the local outwards.

About T-Wabisato
Coastline at Noto
“There is a certain magic in feeling displaced, getting bored, then unearthing insecurities while in a supported, calm environment. It makes you rethink everything you ever knew before.”

About residencies

The space

Built in 1970, T‑Wabisato House is a grounding space of deep toned woods and traditional rush tatami, expansive rooms and contemplative nooks.

Idyllic and charming, the house requires careful renovations to restore its beautiful features and insert some modern touches.

In alignment with deep care and connection for the environment and sustainability, as well as a love for the classic architecture and building methods of the area, T‑Wabisato House will be preserved wherever possible, rather than torn down and reimagined.

After all, Noto and the house already have everything necessary—why alter the best of things? Not all potential needs to be exploited, some can be admired, preserved so as to better inspire.
